ABOUT THE AUTHOR George Dimopoulos has become known in the academic community as the Paperless Professor since his office is virtually 100% free of paper. He uses Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to perform all traditional paper-based work practices electronically, and can therefore work equally well from any location and at any time. He shares his over ten years experience with how to transition to, and use paperless practices to become more productive and flexible in both professional and personal activities. George Dimopoulos paperless office has also been highlighted by Johns Hopkins University (CLICK HERE) and you can read about some of his paperless experiences in his blog: http://enjoypaperless.blogspot.com/ http://paperlessjoy.wordpress.com/
FROM THE AUTHOR Those who introduce paperless practices in their daily work routines will be able to enjoy many of the advantages that are outlined in this book. I'm not promoting paperless practices over paper-based because I think paper is a bad medium for writing and reading, but simply because information and communication technologies offers alternatives that are more versatile and provide superior functionalities. While I have implemented a nearly 100 percent paperless workstyle, because I think this will in the long run be the most efficient and effective, it is not necessary to abandon paper, but instead establish a balance between ICT-based media and paper-based media, and gradually become more paperless.
I am addressing paperlessness from many aspects and angles in this book - the individual, organizational, corporate, societal and global - because all these levels are interrelated and changes in one will eventually affect the other, and so forth. It will be easier to find motivation and justify the effort when it becomes clear how this change in behavior will match overall organizational and global changes that are about to come. The early adopters of paperless practices will enjoy a leading position, instead of following and reacting to the changing business environment.
